Rain Rain Don't Go Away

Whenever it rains I always feel a little more creative.
Music hits your soul and words cut deeper,
So I came up with my version of spoken word.....

Rainy Day Nostalgia
By: Sophia Josephine

Sometimes you find yourself in your house stumbling to get through the day. You make a quick snack and pour a nice big glass of juice and head to your room. When you get there you turn on your music, set it on shuffle, and look out the window slowly getting lost in the sound of the rain. Before you know it the next song comes on and in that moment it really hits your heart....

You're in your 20's and you find yourself troubled with the idea that you're never going to be this young again, but you've never felt so old. Just yesterday you were that crazy 16 year old. So young, so reckless, and so eager to fall in love. But she's just a stranger to you now. The memories flood in as quick as the rain fills the streets. You think back to all the plans you promised yourself you would fulfill by now and how far you are from achieving them. You think in that moment about your old friends and the times you spent and how you should call them. Then you think about how the great deal of numbers in your phone used to bring you so much comfort. But now they're. Just. Numbers. You think about the relationship that's blooming in your heart, or the one that's fading into the distance. But that's no fun so you quickly remember the good times you've had, the late nights and early mornings filled with joy which brings a little smile to your face.

Then just like that the song ends, and with it goes the memories. As you break away from that four minutes of rainy day nostalgia you realized you finished your snack and your juice is almost gone. But you take one last look out your window to watch the rain wash away the last remnants of those feelings you just felt and carry on with your day.
